Overview:

Hazrat Uthman Ghani (RA) was not only a writer of revelation but also had the memorized Quran in his heart. He was well-versed in the contexts of revelation (Shan-e-Nuzool) of Quranic verses. As a merchant, his hallmark was honesty and integrity. He was gentle-natured and constantly kept the thought of the Hereafter in view. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Even the angels are shy of Uthman's modesty." Hazrat Uthman (RA) generously spent his wealth for the propagation and dissemination of Islam. The Prophet (PBUH) also said, "O Uthman, Allah will clothe you with the garment of Caliphate; when the hypocrites try to remove it, do not take it off until you meet me." On the day he was besieged, Hazrat Uthman (RA) said, "The Prophet (PBUH) took a covenant from me (that when hypocrites try to remove the garment of Caliphate, I should not take it off), and thus I am adhering to it and exercising patience."

Key Features:

  5. Generosity in Propagation of Islam: He generously contributed his wealth for Islamic causes, embodying selflessness and commitment to the religion.

  6. Endurance and Adherence to Prophetic Guidance: He remained steadfast during trials, adhering to the Prophetic covenant regarding the Caliphate, even in the face of immense challenges.

  7. Role as a Caliph: As the third Caliph, his leadership and decision-making were guided by his unwavering faith and commitment to Islam.

  8. Focus on the Hereafter: He constantly kept the Akhirah (Hereafter) in view, shaping his actions and priorities with eternal accountability in mind.
